This is a great little cafe in Chippendale serving up simple, homely food to locals. Its graffiti covered outside walls, milk crate chairs lining the curb, old school tunes played on vinyl and the scent of freshly ground coffee make this a little oasis in the urban environment of Chippendale.
With Chippendale being an area filled with uni students, you’ll usually find the aforementioned sipping coffee with friends after class or enjoying a quick brekky of avo on toast or a pastry. I accidentally came across this cafe when helping a friend move into a new apartment around the block, and we were thrilled to find such a perfect spot to fill our empty stomachs after a morning of heavy lifting!
I opted for the muesli with yogurt and fruit, and absolutely loved it! The toasted muesli was excellent – not too sweet and full of yummy nuts – and the seasonal fruit was lovely and fresh. My friend had the bacon & egg roll and was scraping the plate afterwards to savour the remnants of the perfectly oozy yolk.
So if you’re around Chippendale, either to visit the White Rabbit Gallery for their 11am tour, or are looking for a bite to eat & a coffee before uni, why not come to The House? You’ll feel like a local and dream of moving into one of the tree lined little streets around the corner X
